I remember meeting John just a few times. I have a vision of him with a big smile, a wonderful big laugh and an easy going personality.
He will be missed.
Our thoughts are with you.
Greg and Jan Doublestein says
We hardly got to know John, but we’ll always remember his warm handshake and infectious smile when we first met at Libby’s Bulter U. recital earlier this year. So we’ll look forward to hearing all the stories about this special man in the years to come.
We are grateful to God that our son, Matthew, soon will be forever connected to the Doss family tree. “Thank you Grandpa Doss for the legacy you’ve left. Truly, may you rest now in the arms of our loving Father in heaven.”
To Grandma Doss and the rest of your dear family, may God bring lots of memories with grandpa to mind as you learn to live without him in the days ahead. And may our Heavenly Father give you all some rest, too.
It is with both sorrow and joy that we extend our sincere love and concern to each of you; and we lift you up in prayer asking that God will comfort you now in ways we cannot. We are here for you if you need us for anything! Anything.

Jeanne Kapciak says
A life is like a song we write
In our own tone and key
Each life we touch reflects a note
That forms the melody.
We choose the theme and chorus
Of the song to bear our name
And each will have a special sound
No two can be the same.
So when someone we love departs,
In memory we find
Their song plays on within the hearts
Of those they leave behind.
My prayers are with you!
Love and Hugs,
Jeanne

We are so sorry for your loss, John, your Dad was a wonderful person. (George was a barbershop singer too. He may have sung with him as our Quincy group traveled to other states.) Peace be with you, Mindy and all your family.

My heart is with you. Even though I only met him a few times, I do know he was a bright light and he will be remembered with great love. I am thinking of all of you!
Tony Mary Schramm says
Uncle John, with his sly wink, his wry smile and firm handshake, was a quick friend. He loved his life, his barbershopping, and his friends and family, and valued his time being around all of those like no one else we know. It matters not the start and end, but the in-between, and John made the most of his “dash.”
If we hear groans from heaven, we’ll know John & Wayne must be telling jokes to the Man upstairs!
We love you and will miss you, Uncle John.

Tony Bedini says
Uncle John always had a big smile on his face and a great passion for life. Even though I didn’t get to know him until late in his life, he always made me feel like I’d known him my whole life. I’ll miss him, and the best to all the Dosses and the rest of the family.

I was lucky enough to meet John and be around him a few times. He had this energy about him. He found laughter in everything. I did not know until recently his middle name was Lively. How fitting!!!!
You will be missed, John!

Heidi Johnson says
I was lucky enough to be one of John’s caregivers. Although I only cared for him for a few months and only one night a week, I grew very fond of him and looked forward to the new story I would hear each week. I will always remember this past summer where we visited Libby, whom John loved very much and wasn’t afraid to let everyone know, then we would go enjoy the music in the park. See you around campus, Mr. John Doss!
